How to Apply

At St. Catherine’s British School, we believe that the admissions process should be transparent and accessible for all families. Our aim is to make it as stress-free as possible while still ensuring that each student’s unique potential is recognised.

Applications for each school year open in October prior to that year.
The 2027/28 Admissions Cycle opens on 1st October 2026.

Application Process

We understand that choosing a school for your child is a significant decision, and we are here to support and guide you through every step of the process. Below are the steps you will need to follow to apply for your child’s / children's admission.

Initial Enquiry

The first step is to simply get in touch with us and express your interest in the school.

At this stage, we will confirm your child’s age-appropriate year group placement according to the system followed at our school.

Submit Your Initial Enquiry & Visit

Visit our School

We highly encourage prospective families to attend one of our welcome tours for prospective Early Years and Lower School families (during term time), or an appointment-based visit to our Upper School, for you to get a feel for our community and ask any questions you may have.

Families applying from overseas who are unable to visit us, can meet with the Admissions Team and relevant Head of School via video meet. This will be arranged by a member of the Admissions Team.

Assessments and Observation

Depending on the year group you are applying for, your child may be required to sit an assessment with our Admissions Team and/or be invited to participate in a class session.

Special Education Needs

Where a child has a special educational need, further information will be required which may include an educational psychologist report, supporting materials from other specialists outside the school and/or an assessment by the school’s Learning Support Department.

The respective Head of School shall make the ultimate decision as to whether it is in a particular student’s best interest for that student to be admitted.

Decision

As soon as a decision has been made – or if any further information is needed – you will be contacted by the Admissions Team.

  • Successful Application / Offer of a Place
If your child’s application is successful and we have a place available to offer, the Admissions Team will notify you by email. You will be sent an offer letter with a School Contract, which needs to be signed and returned to the Finance Office. You will also be asked to pay the Registration and Development Fund Fees to secure the offered place (see Annual Tuition Fees).
  • Waitpool
Applicants who perform well in their entrance examinations, but for whom there are no available places to offer, will join the respective Waitpool. If a place becomes available, it will be offered to a child in the respective Waitpool, according to our priority criteria (see Guidelines for Entry). Please note that if an applicant in a Waitpool does not manage to secure a place, as per our school policy, they will need to re-apply for the following school year. Our Waitpooled applicants that re-apply for the following school year are required to go through the assessment process again so that we can ensure their language and skill set is progressing so they can thrive on the next level.
  • Unsuccessful Application
Passing the entry assessment and observation is a prerequisite to joining St. Catherine’s. If your child’s application is unsuccessful, the Admissions Team will indicate in its formal response, only by email, where improvement is needed. Please note however, staff members are unable to discuss the results personally - neither via phone or in person.
Enrolment

On confirmation of your acceptance of an offered place, you will receive an email confirmation from the Admissions Team. An electronic Induction Package containing additional information for new families will be sent out prior to your child commencing.

Induction

One day before the official start of each academic year, our new students are invited to attend the Induction Morning which is an event to welcome your children and their families to their new school and introduce them to their teachers.

An earlier Induction Day is held in June for children joining the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Transferring from Greek School

St. Catherine’s British School will automatically send transfer confirmation letters for all new confirmed students who are transferring to our school from a Greek school. A formal Transfer Request is not required to be submitted by the family.
