Our IB Scholarship Programme offers means-tested support of up to 100% fee remission to students entering our International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme who demonstrate outstanding achievement in:

  • Academics
  • Sport
  • The Arts (visual, performing, or music)

This initiative reflects our commitment to making the St. Catherine’s IB programme accessible to students who reflect our school’s commitment to excellence but would not otherwise be able to attend.

Who We Seek

Our IB Scholarship Programme provides means-tested financial support to ensure exceptional candidates can access a St. Catherine’s education, regardless of financial background.

Eligibility & Selection Criteria

Scholarships are awarded based on a combination of demonstrated financial need and student potential. To be considered, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Financial Eligibility: Demonstrated financial need through our confidential means-testing evaluation process.
  • Academic Excellence: A strong, consistent academic record and a passion for learning.
  • Character & Commitment: Evidence of discipline, curiosity, resilience, and integrity, along with a desire to contribute actively to school life.
  • Specialist Distinction (Arts & Sports Scholarships only): Proven talent or exceptional distinction in the visual arts, music, performing arts, or sports.

How to Apply

Application Submission & Initial Screening

October – 15 February

Candidates submit an initial application via the standard Admissions web portal. Upon submission, applicants receive an automated request to upload foundational documentation:

  • Personal Statement: Outlining academic interests, personal goals, and school contributions.
  • Academic Record: Most recent official school report.
  • Identification: Copy of passport or national ID card.

Academic Threshold Testing & Interview

Runs concurrently with Phases 1 & 3.

Candidates sit the St. Catherine’s entrance examination and complete a formal interview with the Head of Upper School.

Academic Threshold: Performance on the entrance exam and interview serves as an initial academic gatekeeper. Candidates who do not meet the required academic threshold are notified and do not proceed to subsequent stages.

Financial Means-Testing & Portfolio Submission

Runs concurrently with Phases 1 & 2.

Applicants submit required financial documentation, professional references, and specialist pathway portfolios for independent auditing and review:

  • Financial Means-Testing: Completed Bursary Form and supporting financial documentation, audited independently against established threshold variables.
  • References: Two academic or character references from current school leadership, teachers, or coaches.
  • Specialist Portfolios (Arts & Sports Applicants Only):
    • Visual Arts: Portfolio showcasing up to 10 pieces across varied media.
    • Performing Arts: Video recordings of two contrasting monologues (maximum 2 minutes each).
    • Music: Audio or video recording (minimum 5 minutes) featuring two contrasting works.
    • Sport: Highlighting reel or video footage of recent competition performance.

Committee Evaluation & Final Decisions

Early March.

Complete candidate dossiers—combining academic results, financial audits, references, and specialist portfolios—are delivered to the IB Scholarship Committee for holistic review against the Scholar Profile and available award levels.

12 March.

Formal written communication regarding scholarship decisions is issued directly to all applicant families.
