The Arts at

St . Catherine’s

A home for the performing and visual arts, where students explore their imagination through a variety of media. We encourage CURIOSITY in creative experimentation and DEDICATION in the mastery of a craft, whether on a stage, in a studio, or through a lens.

This pillar celebrates the whole creative process, from the first sketch or rehearsal to the final exhibition or performance.

Across both Lower School and Upper School, students can explore 30+ dedicated clubs that cultivate individual talent, teamwork, and artistic expression. Discover how our students shine across Theatre, Visual Arts, and Music.

Theatre

Theatre at St. Catherine’s offers a continuous journey that takes young performers from early confidence-building to professional-grade stages. From Lower School Spotlight shows through to Key Stage 3 plays and our flagship Senior School Production, students immerse themselves in character work, ensemble performance, and artistic storytelling. Our exceptional Musical Theatre programme brings singing, acting, and dance together, culminating in a large-scale production fully staged in a professional venue.

What sets our theatre offering apart is a commitment to the entire creative process. Alongside performance pathways, students can also master behind-the-scenes disciplines, including set and costume design, theatrical lighting, and live sound engineering.

Growing their talent in spaces like our St. Catherine's British School Theatre and our Black Box Theatre, students develop the technical mastery, teamwork, and creative voice to flourish on stage and beyond.

Music

From foundational rhythm in the Lower School to the energy of our School Orchestra, Choir, and Rock Project, the music experience at St. Catherine’s inspires students to find their unique sound with students being able to study music even through their IB years.

Musicians engage with a rich variety of styles and build their stage presence. Live performance is at the heart of the journey, with annual concerts, showcases, and recitals giving students opportunities to perform in front of supportive audiences.

Behind this vibrant musical culture lies a commitment to mastery and progression. Our After-School Music Service provides one-on-one lessons across a broad spectrum of instruments and vocal styles, backed by accredited ABRSM and Rock School pathways for internationally recognized qualifications.

Visual Arts

Visual Arts at St. Catherine’s provides an inspiring studio environment where curiosity transforms into artistic expression. Students explore a rich array of media - from drawing, painting, and ceramics to photography and architectural design. Through hands-on experimentation with clay, paint, light, and mixed media, young artists master techniques while discovering their creative identity.

Empowering students to deepen their creative voice, structured short courses and specialised portfolio preparation support those preparing for GCSE, IB, and higher education pathways in design and fine art.

By regularly presenting their work on campus, including curated end-of-year exhibitions, students develop the pride, dedication, and confidence to flourish as lifelong visual thinkers.
